Design Thinking for Innovation


Innovation is crucial in today’s organisation. Customers’ needs and wants are changing faster than the speed of light. What are the challenges faced in business today? What are the needs of today’s customers? How can organisations deliver the true value of their products and services? There’s a dire need for corporates to work even closer internally and collaboratively. New innovation will spark from more heads than one. Innovation is like the missing bridge to cross to the other side. How innovation impact your leadership styles during conflict resolution?

Leaders also learn powerfully through getting feedbacks, receive guidance and personal reflection. Yet, how many leaders are comfortable in receiving feedbacks?

In this 2-day workshop, participants will be introduced to human-centred innovation tool called design thinking. During the workshop participants will discuss with deeper insights on customers pain points and attempt to innovate from there. Along with this, you as a leader would revisit key tenets of leadership and management. This alignment is very important to differentiate their leadership styles. Taking everyone’s backgrounds are unique, this workshop sought to establish a shared understanding of the organisational and personal vision, mission and key values.


  • Illustrate the design thinking 5-steps methodology.
  • Profile learners (customers / users) needs and pain points as source of innovation.
  • Create learning (innovative) solutions by understanding different leadership styles.
  • Describe the concept of coaching, foundation of successful coaching relationship and how to win their own boss.
  • Work in active collaboration to design new ideas



Khairul puts the premium on innovation and execution simply because it’s the only measure of success. Currently, he is an active advocate of design thinking and open online courses. His interest is in people development, leadership behavioural change and innovation skills development. He had volunteered at Teach For Malaysia, LinkAges, MAGiC, Coursera Global Translator Program and was the Vice Chairman at Genovasi Alumni.
