MOHAMAD RIDWAN OTHMAN
Teaching for more than 10 years at the tertiary and secondary level and possessing more than 19 years of experience in the education, faculty development training, e-learning and educational technology industry, Ridwan is both an educator and learning technologist at heart. He has trained more than 1000 teachers at all levels and professionals from the corporate sector on many aspects of learner-centred pedagogical approaches and on learning technology solutions. Apart from conducting and implementing various customised programmes for AGILE, Ridwan also spearheads various strategic initiatives in areas of pedagogy, teaching competencies and learning technology innovations, especially focusing on learning analytics, online and blended learning, learning space design and holistic education approaches. With an approach that combines understanding of learning theories and the intricacies of technology tools in education, Ridwan leverages on the affordances of such tools to maximise deep learning and encouraging collaborative, participative and self-directed learning behaviours for the learners.
Amutha has 28 years of experience in higher education teaching & learning and educational management. She passionately grew her interest in adult learning and continuously strives to improve pedagogical practices, assessment and learning design through deep reflection and evident-based learning. Her area of expertise in pedagogical training is teaching and learning methods and strategies, curriculum design and development, assessment rubric and evaluation instrument and learning system design. She has a keen interest in eLearning tool and has pursued her PhD in the area of Educational Technology using Design-based research methodology underpinning Activity Theory as its Theoretical framework. She has designed many workshops for adult learners or higher learning educators using web or eLearning tools underpinning educational theories. She is currently the Director for Pedagogy and Training at AGILE.
HAIRIL IZWAN ISAMUDDIN
Hairil has over 11 years of experience in various roles within the learning industry, especially in education management and consultation. Possessing practical knowledge in project management backed with extensive ICT background, also allows him to design and conduct various training & program development, managing stakeholders and client relations including certification testing and designing assessment activities. He is certified in 11 globally recognised professional certifications from various IT organisation such as Microsoft, CompTIA, EC-Council and Axelos. He is also currently serving as a visiting external examiner for his alma mater – University Technology of Petronas.
Glen O’Grady is the Director for the Centre for Higher Education, Learning and Teaching (CHELT) at the Australian National University. His passion is educators who can make a difference in the lives of students. Glen’s research is on learning, assessment and approaches to teaching that foster deep learning – in particular Problem-based Learning. Glen has run professional development programs both in Higher and Vocational Education in a wide array of countries. He serves on the executive of a number of national and international education associations including The Pan American PBL Association and The Council of Australian Directors of Academic Development.
Greg Jansen is an education consultant working across the educational sector in New Zealand. He is passionate about working with people of all ages, supporting them to reach their potential. He focuses on developing strong teaching and learning relationships through the use of Restorative Approaches. Greg has worked with the Ministry of Education in New Zealand supporting Restorative development in the Canterbury region. He provides training, development and consultancy in Restorative Approaches for schools, workplaces and community groups in New Zealand. He is passionate about developing the potential and capability in those he works with, sharing strategies that are practical and real.
Heikal brings with him over 19 years of education and training leadership experience, specifically in the areas of educational management, academic planning, teaching and training (pedagogy and andragogy), pedagogical and curriculum innovation and technology and character and leadership development. He has a vast and rich teaching and lecturing experience and has worked both in Singapore and abroad. He is also actively involved in educational management and leadership, curriculum planning/development and delivery and managing academic programmes which includes overseeing IELTS requirements, TESOL-based programmes and induction of international students. Heikal has been awarded an “A Grade” from the Ministry of Education, Singaprore during his time teaching at a Pre-University Institute. Apart from lecturing, Heikal has delivered a keynote speech at The University of Surabaya (UNESA), Indonesia, on Curriculum Reform, 2013; conducted a full Teacher Training Programme in Nation Star Academy, Surabaya, Indonesia (2015) and conducted an Overseas Education Seminar in Ali Maksum High School in Yogyakarta, Indonesia (2014).
Ahmad Sahar has been working in the Information Technology (IT) industry since 1993. From 1999 to 2006, he has worked at Apple. During his tenure there, he has conducted courses for Apple’s customers in the enterprise and education markets in the South East Asia Region. An Apple Certified Technical Coordinator, he has been an Apple Certified Trainer since 2008. He is certified to teach OS X Support Essentials and OS X Server Essentials. Ahmad Sahar has also worked with many K-12 and Higher Education institutions in implementing Apple technology and has conducted OS X and iOS introduction sessions for many private schools in Malaysia.
Andreas is a Master Trainer of Asia Mind Dynamics and Certified Trainer for NLP, Hypnosis, NLP Coach and the Language and Behaviour Profile. A founder of Asia Mind Dynamics, he is one of 17 existing Certified Master Trainer of the “Words That Change Minds” – The Language and Behaviour Profile (LAB Profile), recognised by Shelle Rose Charvet, founder of Success Strategies, and the main promoter of the LAB Profile. He has a certificate in Design Thinking specializing in Empathy & Prototyping, Stanford Center for Professional Development (USA) and a certificate in Design Thinking & Coaching, Genovasi, Hasso-Platner Institute (HPI) & Stanford Executive Education (USA). Apart from that, he is a verified Certificate & Capstone Project, Interaction Design from the University of California, San Diego (USA). A believer in putting premium on innovation and execution to measure success, he has interest in people development, leadership behavioural change and innovation skills development. DR. FRANCES PENAFORT
Frances’ purpose in life is to inspire leaders and their teams to break their ‘mental barriers’ and ‘raise the bar’. Equipped with a myriad of work experiences bridging executive coaching, global leadership, cross-cultural training and leadership development work, Frances enables leaders to achieve their stretched targets utilising their resourcefulness. An academia moved into being a management consultant to MNCs in Malaysia and overseas such as Finland, Denmark, Australia, China, India, Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia and Brunei, her executive coaching career expanded into organisations that were both public listed and private, MNCs and GLCs that spanned over a range of industries such as Banking and Finance, Property and Hotels, Oil and Gas, Telco, FMCG, Insurance, Medical and Education.
Jeyaraman gained his teaching experience as a tutor for Mathematics, Accounting and English for 10 years. Seeking to do more for his students, he embarked on studying extensively about thinking and the human brain. Many of his students benefited from the techniques he shared with them to improve their grades within a very short time. Since then, he has taught thousands of students, teachers and the public for the last 15 years not only in Malaysia but also in 7 other countries memory techniques, mind-mapping, creative thinking and creative teaching with consistently high ratings from participants. As a trainer, he is an active member and Vice President of Malaysian Association of Professional Speakers (MAPS). DR. ESYIN CHEW
Dr Esyin Chew is an interdisciplinary academic in IT and Education who is committed to on-going research and practice of seamless technologies with assessment and feedback analytics. Her key role at the Centre is to build on the University’s existing excellence in Blended Learning and Academic Integrity. Working closely with academics and supporting staff across the University’s groups, Dr Chew was the key person in delivering the University’s targets in response to the Welsh funding council’s strategy for technology enhanced learning, teaching and assessment by advising and supporting fellow colleagues across faculties in their curriculum design, development and delivery with the blend of technologies. Specialising in academic integrity and educational technologies, Dr Chew provides academic consultancy and training workshops for a wide range of educational innovations such as Turnitin & GradeMark, personal response systems, data scrapping and social media analytic, humanoid robot for assessment and feedback, learning spaces and flipped classroom.
Hasnain is working as e-Learning Manager at International Medical University (IMU). He has more than fifteen years’ hands-on experience with implementing e-learning in higher education. In 2013, he was ranked No.6 in the World and No.3 in Malaysia on the ‘Top e-Learning Movers & Shakers’ poll based on votes from 1800+ learning professionals/educators around the world. Hasnain has a passion for new technologies, social collaboration strategies and the impact they have on learning. He has done research in several key e-learning areas, including mobile collaborative learning, Hospital Information System, Student Information System, social media, web 2.0, educational gaming, role-play simulation, virtual classrooms, learning (content) management systems, engagement tools, e-learning standards, instructional design and courseware development.
Eleanor is an independent master trainer for the Ministry of Education in Malaysia where she trains lecturers from Teacher Training Universities on the project called “Computational Thinking and Computer Science Teaching Certification Programme for Master Trainer”. She obtained her Master Teacher on Computer Science Golden Certificate from Carnegie Mellon Robotic Academy, Pittsburg, United States in 2015. To date, she has trained up to 130 lecturers and about 300 teachers on Computational Thinking. These educators were from Taiwan, Korea, Vietnam, Philippines, Indonesia, Australia, Cambodia and Malaysia.
ZAID ALI ALSAGOFF
Zaid is a Learning Innovation Specialist with over 15 years’ experience in tertiary and corporate education. Ranked “Top Ten” most influential people in the corporate learning sector for the Asia-Pacific region, he has done research, given talks and facilitated workshops in several areas, including Open Educational Resources, Massive Open Online Courses, social media, gamification, flipped classroom and instructional design. He was ranked No. 1 in the World on the “Top e-Learning Movers & Shakers” poll based on votes from 1800+ learning professionals/educators around the world in 2013. Since 2014, Zaid has intensively explored the world beyond e-learning with a passionate interest in understanding how the brain learns and how we can improve our ability to learn (how-learn), remember, think and innovate. Apart from being an AKEPT trainer, member of the National e-Learning and MOOC Committees (under KPM) in Malaysia, he is also a certified HRDF trainer.
Andleen is an internationally experienced educator, trainer and coach from the UK. She is the founder of a boutique consultancy called Mind Nomads which focuses on unlocking the inner journey. She provides training on achieving a growth mindset and delivers workshops on effective communication, personal development and empowerment both in domestic and foreign settings. Dr. Ruquyah Gandhi has been in the educational field for more than 15 years around Asia. Her extensive experience in teacher’s training, course and program development. PROF. GRAINNE CONOLE
Prof. Gráinne Conole is a consultant and visiting professor at Dublin City University. She has worked at the Universities of Bath Spa, Bristol, Leicester, OU and Southampton. Her research interests are on the use of technologies for learning, including Open Educational Resources (OER) and Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), new approaches to designing for learning, e-pedagogies, and social media. She has an HEA National Teaching Fellowship and fellow of EDEN and ASCILITE. She has published and presented over 1000 talks, workshops and articles.
DR. TIMOTHY LAW
Dr. Timothy has over 25 years of management services experience, most recently working as a consultant for various branded organisations, where he provided advisory and operations improvement services for clients in Malaysia as well as international platforms. Timothy has deep and varied industry knowledge in services, auto, utilities and telecomm having completed consulting engagements and software/analytics deliveries. An innovative learning and management services leader with proven success in training development and operations improvement, he has experience in working with senior level stakeholders across the product lifecycle to identify revenue opportunities while delivering an improved customer experience. Prior to managing his business in Consulting and Properties Investment, Timothy worked as a consultant for the International BrandLaureate Asia Pacific providing management expertise to over 60 clients. Timothy has also held senior leadership positions domestically and internationally as Vice President of various Business and Practitioners Advisory Panels and the Associates until today.
Fenny is an education solution professional with 10 years’ experience in learning design, training and coaching. Delivered 100+ training/workshop/presentation to 5000+ educators/professionals on wide topics of learning technology, especially for Interactive Whiteboard, Digital language lab, and digital contents. She graduated from her Master degree in Instructional Technology at University of Malaya with a special interest in Adult Learning. With her knowledge in Instructional Design, she has contributed in various training programs for Education, Human Resource Development and Cooperate sectors. Actively involved in projects management with Ministry of Education(MoE), Early childhood institution, Universities and International School in Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei. She also teaches part time for faculty of education (subject; Technology in Education for under graduate and diploma students), in SEGi University. To her gaining new knowledge is a life-long learning process and should be shared for the benefit of other people. There is nothing can stop her to learn and share, the sky indeed is the limit.
DR. NG HUEY ZHER
Dr. Ng was an academician in both public and private institutions of higher learning, holding various leadership roles including managing, facilitating and coaching trainee teachers from early childhood and primary education levels, as well as training university lecturers. She is currently working as a learning designer. She graduated with a Masters degree and PhD in the area of instructional technology, which specifically focuses on personalised learning via blogging and formative feedback in a blended learning environment. Her vast experience spanned more than 10 years in the areas of blended learning, formative assessment, learners’ e-portfolio and reflection. Her passion stems from her believe that with suitable instructional strategies and learning design, the teacher would be able to provide significant learning experience to students.
